We All Looked Up Book Review

Karina Vasquez, Reporter

We All Looked Up by Tommy Wallach provides the point of view of four high school students who have so little time to figure out their standing in their life before the two months runs out and Ardor the comet strikes. Now it’s the end of the world and the big question everyone is asking would be how to spend the last days of your life.

we-all-looked-up-9781481418775_hrIn the latest novel, We All Looked Up, there are many attributes on how the minds of the four students labeled the athlete, the easy girl, the slacker, and the overachiever work under stress as they find out they only have two months to live before a meteor is set to pass through Earth’s orbit with a 66.6 percent chance of striking and ending all life on the planet. With a Breakfast Club feel, it provides the reader an understanding of each main character by switching the point of views to each main character. There are ten sections in the book and each section is divided by Peter, Eliza, Andy, and Anita’s points of view. These four characters find their lives intersecting on the eve of the cataclysmic event.

This book has become a sensation in the country and is on the New York Times Best Sellers. It was published on March 24, 2015 by Simon & Schuster and is rated a general of three stars on Google Books. The book was mainly three stars on social media websites because much of the older audience was not interested in the romance or mild violence that was included. Although on a teenager’s perspective, I feel it is more relateable than other novels. While reading the book, I got a chance to explore the minds of four different personalities going through different hardships. It was more unique than other romance novels I read such as The Fault in Our Stars by John Greene. I would definitely rate it four stars on my book list. It was announced online that Hollywood is considering coming out with a live action film. If you care to read a thrilling and heartfelt novel before the movie, We All Looked Up, is the best for you.
