February 16, 2015
The Cy-Ridge Dazzlers drill team competed at Showtime International’s College Station Dance Classic contest over the Valentine’s Day weekend. The team walked away with Grand Champion “Super” team, and the ladies also won numerous awards for choreography, technique and precision. The team was led by dance teachers Jillian Cates and Talia Dudley.
Junior soloists Angela Choi and Destiny Sudds both finished in the top 5 high school solos, and Choi was the top scoring high school soloist of the entire day. Choi also won the “Kickmaster” contest and was chosen from approximately 25 girls from all different schools based on her kick height and overall kick technique.
“Working with the Dazzlers day in and day out is a true blessing. As a team they have gained confidence, leadership and the willingness to prepare to win,” Cates, director and dance teacher, said. “With making Dazzler history this competition season we are realizing what it really means to be a unified team that makes goals and meets them with 100% effort every day.”
The teams are divided into divisions based on size, and with 57 members, the Dazzlers were in the largest category of “Super.” The Dazzlers performed 18 different routines including ensembles, solos, duets, team dances, and officer dances in the categories of modern, contemporary, lyrical, jazz/kick, kick, pom, novelty and jazz.
On, Saturday February 21st, the Dazzlers competed in their last contest for the season at the M.A. Contest at Klein Oak High School.
