Mockingjay: Part 1 Review
November 22, 2014
The highly anticipated blockbuster of the year, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 has hit theaters for the holidays. Continuing where it left off District 12 is in ruins and the remaining citizens reside underground in District 13. The Capital has captured of Peeta Mallerk and other other tributes such as Johanna Mason. Mockingjay was often slow paced towards the beginning as District 13 tries to convince Katniss Everdeen to become their Mockingjay and all the events towards the end seem rushed as they rescue Mallerk and the other tributes. Like every movie being based off the book a few things were left off, but none the less the suspense and action were there. The actors put on their best performances yet capturing every emotion thoroughly having the characters highly developed from the previous years.
As for the audience view expectations were high, but the movie itself was low.
“On a scale from I to 10 I give it a five,” freshmen Derrick Rivera said. “It doesn’t make sense and it didn’t follow up to the book.”
In regards to the expectations there were audience members who loved the movie beside the mistakes that it had.
“I loved it,” sophomore Asia Riley said. “The next movie is going to be pretty awesome because nothing major happened. Overall the movie was a pretty good follow up. They only included some detail that the book didn’t have. Other than that movie totally met my expectations.”
All in all the audience had mixed views on the movie and how the movie met up to their expectations. Like any major film it will have its faults and its flaws, still Mockingjay Part 1 has left us on the edge of our seats for the series final of the Hunger Games sequel next fall 2015.
