Many things have been changing in school for the students, one of the many things have been the morning announcements. On Feb. 12, 2018, they were no longer doing audio announcements which the school has been doing since the school opened, instead, they changed them to video announcements.

“One of the reasons we changed it is so that the people can see who the voices are behind the announcements,” junior Cecilia Balderas said. But that was not the only reason the announcements had changed to video. The teacher, Raquel Briones of Audio/Video Production (AVP) class also mentions that the school should be up to date with the other schools as well experience the challenges.

“Because all the other schools were doing video announcements and I felt like my students were capable of the doing the same,” Briones said, “It’s actually been a very positive effect on everyone,  and it has also made a huge impact on life skill students, especially the deaf kids because now they can see it.”

Although it has been a huge adjustment, not only for the students from just hearing the voices to now seeing who is who and who is saying what, but also for the class of AVP students that went from just making movies for the class to see to now videotaping others talking in front of the camera for the whole school to see. Overall AVP has enjoyed the new announcements.

“It’s made the class more enjoyable and it has made the class a better learning environment cause everyone is making different videos, can see other people’s art style and how they wanna do things,” senior Charles (Chuck) Hopper said.

Balderas appreciates the improvement that has been made to the class.

“The class has gotten more fun since we changed to video announcements, its something different and get to see the different style everyone has,” Balderas said.

Students may have good moments in the class while making the videos but some wish to make some changes to the announcements from either the music, adding more to the videos doing something different in general.

“I would change the background, and where we do the videos. I would also want to add weather and lunch,” Balderas said.

Hopper also adds what he feels that should be changed in the announcements.

“I would change the music because I feel like some of the music is not as upbeat as it should be and some of it should definitely have a better tone to it,” Hopper wishes to have more upbeat music that makes it more alive grab students attention.

Briones also has a suggestion for the announcements.

“I would like more assistant principals in the video even if it’s just something simple, like the pledge. Also, I would really like to add more footage about what we are talking about as in if we are talking about a sport. I would want to put a picture below as we are talking about it,” Briones said.

Beyond all the changes the students and teachers wanting to add to the video announcements the AVP class and teacher feel it has been a great effect.

“Yes the announcements was a success as a video mainly because now people pay more attention to them, also get fewer people that don’t really know what is going on and more involvement in the club and all the announcements are getting more popular,” Hopper said.
