The boy’s soccer team at Cypress Ridge has been practicing all year to go into playoffs on Jan. 11 and all their hard work has finally paid off by the final result being 17-6-1. It has really impacted the boys who have been playing soccer their whole life. But overall they lost the playoffs,

Senior Anthony Ruiz, who plays Middlefield and right wing, is on the Varsity team and has been playing soccer since he was four years old. And feels like soccer has made a big impact on his life.

“When I was little, my dad would take me to the field and just play around, but it made us so much closer. I feel like I can really tell him anything, and I never thought that a sport could really bring someone who means so much to me mean something even more,” Ruiz said. “I never thought that I would be so close to him at the time because I was only four, but yeah it seems like he was a huge role model to me, and like we were like long-lost buddies.”

In addition, soccer has made a big difference in senior Angel Ramirez’s life. Ramirez is on varsity and also plays middle field, but has been playing soccer since he was three years old and hopes to play soccer in college.

“Yeah, I would say so. Soccer has really broken me out of my shell, and I’d be really unhealthy if I didn’t play soccer,” Ramirez said.
