FFA Takes Home Honors at CFISD Livestock Show

FFA students participated in the 27th annual CFISD Livestock Show over the Feb. 2-4 at the CFISD Exhibit Center. Students in the program raised animals to show and sell in the in the livestock show. The FFA club took home several honors from the competition in horticulture, agriculture mechanics and market animals.
Vanessa Gonzalez, Nicole Broussard, Justin Spivey showed their goats while Dawson Schuller showed his sheep and Cristina Krus, Zoey Lavergne both showed steers. Bradley Christian, Alexia Jennings, Chantell Diaz, Zina Theodiousou, Katherine Bennett, Olivia Bagnasco all raised pigs.
But this group is not just about the livestock. Students also have a chance to show off their skills in the agriculture, mechanics, welding and horticulture. In the agricultural mechanics category, Alaysia Williams submitted her 16’ cattle working chute, Olivia Bagnasco submitted a wood bench, Jacob Davis submitted his gun rack. Nicole Brossard, Chantell Diaz, Cristina Krus, Zina Theodosou, Zaid Al Qadi, Gaberilla Garcia, Samantha Williamson participated in the Horticulture group.
To join FFA, students have to enroll in principles of agriculture, food, and natural resources and they must be in an agriculture science class at least one semester each school year. Raising an animal is not a requirement to be in FFA.
