Twelve students ranging from freshmen to seniors will compete in the annual Cy-Ridge Talent Show, named Talent Madness, on Thursday November 10, 2016 in the auditorium at 7 p.m. This year’s show acts from Quan Chung (magic), Gloria Smith (vocalist), Kaylon Williams (drums), Ivan Castellanos (beat boxing), Jonathan McNabb (cellist), The B Boys (break dancing), Connor Herman (pianist), Savannah Nguyen (vocalist), Gustavo Caceres (vocalist and ukulele), Sofia Sanchez (dancer), Sydney Chansamouth (vocalist) and Antwone Robertson (vocalist).

With the excitement of the big show coming up, sophomore Connor Herman feels the pressure with this being his second year participating in the spectacle.

“I am really nervous because there’s gonna be a huge crowd and I don’t want to mess up,” Herman said.

Herman will be playing Leonard Cohen version of “Hallelujah” on the piano.

“I thought it was really pretty so why not,” Herman stated.

Senior Sophia Sanchez on the other hand has been performing in the talent show for all four years of her high school attendance and this year she will be performing something more culturally traditional.

“I’m doing a samba dance. It’s like hip hop and electronic with a mixture of pop as well,” Sanchez said.

Sanchez looks forward to her performance and is just waiting for her chance to share her talent.

“It’s my passion, I have been dancing my whole life,” Sanchez stated.

While these students have some type of experience Gustavo Caceres went out on a limb when he chose to participate in this years talent show.

“One day in July I picked up the ukulele, and I was pretty good at it so I decided why not do the talent show,” Caceres said.

Although he made this carefree choice, Caceres still admits he still feels the same pressure as Herman.

“I’m very excited but after rehersals I know I have very tough competion so I’m also really nervous,” Caceres said.

Tickets are on sale for $7 presale and $10 at the gate.
