“I find it respectful, and I would like to do it any day or any time because I want to be a marine when I grow up,” Acosta said. “I feel proud of myself for being able to do that. I am always going to respect veterans and people who served in the military.”
Yolanda Holden teaches history and is a veteran of the United States Navy.
“One, it’s a blessing to be here and to serve our country. And it’s an honor to not just us but to all of the veterans who fought in the wars before us, ” Holden said. “I’m grateful to Cy-Fair [ISD] and Cy-Ridge, thankful to Lieutenant Colonel Munoz and Sergeant Core, the ROTC and the marching band. It’s amazing to see this school spirit.”
Librarian Thomas Johnson is a Major in the United States Army, Reserves serving as a JAG Officer to the 75th Training Command at Ellington Field.
“When I see students honoring the military service of America’s men and women it gives me hope that they understand all the blood, sweat and treasure it takes to maintain and protect our Republic from those who would take it away,” Johnson said. “My hope is that Veterans’ Day celebrations contribute to next generation being ready to do the same.”
