Pokémon GO Goes Trick-Or-Treating Too!
Spend your Halloween with New Pokémon Go event!
October 30, 2016
Pokémon Go, the mobile video game sensation from the summer, will receive a Halloween themed update that will run from Oct. 26 through Nov. 1.
Pokémon GO Halloween invites players to continue playing during this Halloween season. This event will double the amount of candy a player can receive when catching, trading, hatching, and walking their buddy Pokémon. During this event there will be an increase in the appearances of these select Pokémon: Gastly, Gengar, Haunter, Drowzee and Zubat. (other players have also reported these Pokémon as well: Cubone, Marowak, Meowth and Persian)
Tips and Strategy:
- Get candy: Earn candy not just for your trainer but also for your Pokémon buddy. Make use of this Halloween’s trick-or-treating tradition and take one’s Pokémon buddy while you’re out trick-or-treating.For those who don’t know about the buddy system, you can select one of your Pokémon as a buddy. As you walk, your buddy Pokémon will earn candy. Once a certain distance is walked your buddy Pokémon will receive candy, these distances can be 1km (0.62 miles), 3km (1.86 miles), or 5km (3.11 miles) and each Pokémon is assigned a distance according to it’s rarity. The higher the rarity of your selected Pokémon buddy the higher the distance will be. But during this halloween themed event, the distance at which your buddy will receive candy will be reduced by one-fourth .
- Stay powered: Take a power bank or portable charger with you. You can’t catch or walkPokémon with a dead phone. Power banks and portable chargers can help combat battery drainage from using the app. Many power banks are sold at convenience stores like Walmart or CVS and can start as cheap as $7 and increase in price from there. To put it into perspective an IPhone 6 battery is 2012 milliamp hour (mAh). By carrying a power bank with at least 2012 mAh can essentially double your battery life and keep you playing Pokémon GO for longer.
- Double rewards: During this Halloween update many actions will result in double the amount of
candy. Typically upon trading in a Pokémon the player will receive one candy and catching a Pokémon will yield three candies.Hatching Pokémon eggs can yield from five to 32 candies depending on the distance it takes to hatch the egg. The longer the distance the higher the payout will be. Remember during this Halloween event, all these actions will be double the original.
- More sightings: Take advantage of the increased spawn rates of Gastly, Gengar, Haunter, Drowzee and Zubats. Some of these Pokémon may be rare in an area, so make use of this time to catch plenty of them.
