Learning is preparing us for the future ahead.

Starting a new school year can be an exciting yet, fun adventure not only for students, but also for new teachers. However, introducing yourself multiple times and meeting over a hundred students can be a bit overwhelming. It can be a hassle to memorize student names and to adapt to a new environment. There are 32 new teachers here at Cypress Ridge ready to teach and make an difference in students this school year.

Cypress Ridge is a place where you can build relationships and be yourself. The first day is full of first impressions and blending into the Cypress Ridge community. Economy teacher Joshua Quist is intrigued about the new school year and looks forward to what the rest of year brings.

“It’s been a very easy adjustment. There are a lot of great veteran teachers here to help. The student population is enthusiastic and very capable,” social studies teacher Quist said.

A teacher never knows what could possibly happen such as, mistakes or maybe even embarrassing yourself. Working through these obstacles can push you to gain endurance and patience as an individual. English IV AP teacher Lauren Capps describes first day as a great beginning to the new school year.

“My first day was great. The students were great and it was a kind intro, you know going through the syllabus,” Capps said. “The English IV team is good, and I think they helped me know that it’s gonna be a good year, and they helped set good expectations for the year.”

While experiencing a new transition in your everyday routine, it is always good to have someone who can help you through it. Social studies teacher Sara Madden has been the lead mentor teacher here at Cypress Ridge for 2 years guiding new teachers to an easy conversion.

“I think the most important advice I can give new teachers to Cypress Ridge is to remember that it’s okay not to be perfect, but that as long as you are trying to do what’s best for our students you won’t ever make too great of a mistake,” Madden said.

Cypress Ridge is a community where you can be yourself, build relationships with student teachers, and create memories for yourself.
