HOSA held their semiannual spring blood drive on Friday, April 17. The drive brought in about 24 gallons of blood due to 187 donors.

“I didn’t know what to expect,” junior Haley Dunn said.

People feel more like it is purposeful to donate than not.

“If you have you might as well give it,” junior Sara Toner said.

Junior Maysha Talat agreed.

“I guess given the opportunity I jumped to it,” Talat said. “You never really get the chance to save lives, so once you get it, take it

One of the big sources of inspiration for donations is the effect it has on others.

“Three people get to live because of me so that’s very cool,” Talat said.

Some donated for more personal reasons.

“My aunt needed blood in her surgery,” senior Mikayla Collins said, “so I feel like I need to donate blood now, to help people.”

There were some students that were still terrified.

“I’m utterly terrified, give me a minute to pray,” Toner said while on the donation mat.

The presence of needles seemed to be the most terrifying part.
