Three days after the first movie, Divergent, left off, sequel Insurgent starts out in the Amity faction as the main characters Tris and Four (Tobias) find refuge from the Erudite faction leader, Jeanine Matthews and her social order to eliminate the Divergents. Trying to find a way to help the Divergents survive gets harder as Jeanine programs people’s suicide attempts so that Tris can turn herself in to unlock an unknown box, containing data from the citys founders. Tris being the only Divergent who can open the box surrenders to Jeanine and testing begins on her as a search party sets out to look for her traces. Tris manages to unlock the box after faking her death and she reveals the message to everyone. And, spoiler alert: the message states that all the factions inside the walls of the city are an experiment that concludes that the Divergents are the most successful and they will be waiting for everyone to return back to humanity.

As the movie ends the scene shows an imprisoned Jeanine wondering what is outside the walls, while saying this, she is shot to her death never finding out.

In more ways than one Insurgent differed from the first movie. Overall the first movie, Divergent was closer to the plot than Insurgent was.

“I thought the first movie was better honestly,” sophomore Iza Chaudry said. “The second movie was just confusing. Insurgent seemed to skip around a bunch and everything looked rushed.”

In Insurgent you can expect to see stepped up action scene than the previous movie.

“Insurgent was the most amazing movie ever,” sophomore Bailey Vordokas said. “The action scenes seemed life- like and real. It’s for sure a step up from other action movies.”

The second movie in the Divergent trilogy made its debut in theaters on March 11, 2015.
