“Prayer at the pole for Team McBeeler was important for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  As an organization, we gather weekly and know the power of prayer,” Suelma Tamez, the head women’s soccer coach, said. “We decided to invite everyone on campus to stand in faith and pray for Coach McWilliams, Coach Beeler and all those involved.  It was amazing to see over 100 people unite and ask God’s guidance, protection and provision for these two incredible men and their families!”

McWilliams suffers from a genetic disorder that caused his body to reject his organs, starting with his liver and heart. McWilliams mentioned his condition to his fellow coaches and Beeler stepped up. Both coaches were profiled on KHOU Channel 2 News.

In the days before the event, the athletics department sold bright green Team McBeeler shirts. Proceeds from the shirt sales will go towards medical and recovery expenses for both McWilliams and Beeler.
