The newspaper staff shows off their pride for Love is Respect week.

“Love is Respect” week will be held Feb. 9-13 during school. It is run by student council and was started to provide awareness to abusive relationships and promote healthy ones.

The campaign revolves around not only dating but also friendships and is meant to provide awareness for this serious situation that is often overlooked and can become repetitive.

In regards to it, there will be a banner for students to sign as well as a pledge to show respect in relationships during the Tuesday and Wednesday lunch periods. Students will receive a treat for participation.

The newspaper staff models the “Take a Stand, Be a Hero, & Let Someone Know", “Wrap yourself with LOVE, not Violence" and “Show our P.R.I.D.E. & Wear your Heart on your Sleeve” dress up day options.

On Thursday, student council will hold a quiz centered on knowing if your relationship is healthy or not, based on simple, everyday things that one normally would not consider. The answers fall within a scale that determines whether the relationship is healthy or unhealthy.

More information regarding respect within relationships can be found at loveisrespect.org.
