Daniel Ruiz, Veronica Vasquez and Diany Paz promote the HOLA Valentine’s Day sale during lunch.

It is that time of year again—Valentine’s Day. Flowers are in full bloom and so are sales for carnations and roses. The Hispanic Organization of Leaders of America (HOLA), sponsored by Karina Fernandez, will host the sales through all three lunches during the week of Valentine’s Day.

Pre-sale for roses will extend from the Feb. 9-12. Purchased flowers will include a note card with a custom message from the buyer. Walk-ups on Friday, Feb 13 are also welcome to buy roses. Prices for carnations and roses will be $2.50 and will come in multiple colors.

The HOLA club hopes to do exceptionally well this year as it will benefit their club.

“The money that we raise will be used for a scholarship of $500 for a senior in HOLA,” Fernandez said. “If we do very well the money will also go towards the HOLA banquet. Last year sales were good, we sold pretty much all of them. I just hope we sell a lot to at least meet the scholarship amount.”

Sales for roses are credited for being favorable and easy to buy.

“It was convenient and cheap for me to buy,” sophomore Jason Cao said. “I’m always busy doing things and I just forget to go to the store. I think it’s very helpful for students that want to buy last minute gifts. I will definitely buy roses from HOLA this year.”
